so, tumblr is trying to kill itself and I need a new place to yap, and what better place than here! i am too young to remember live journal, but i’ve always loved the feel of old internet from the time of live journal so although this site feels a little foreign to me, i like the vibes here.

you can call me jae!! i’m a 20 y/o plural system. our collective pronouns are it/he/xe. we are collectively aroace and trans. we are a writer and digital artist. our muse at the moment is rock lee from naruto, he is incredibly important to us and we consider him our partner in a ficto/yumeship kind of way.

we write fanfic on ao3 at the username theycallmeyn (active). we also have a pillowfort (active) & a tumblr (mainly inactive).

some of our interests & fandoms are: naruto, my hero academia, homestuck, creepypasta, mcyt, music (skz is our fav at the moment), teen titans, lazy town, fandom history & culture, fear & hunger, animals (dogs, cats, and sea creatures!), animanga, mlp, dungeon meshi, sander sides, art, minecraft, visual novels + so much more!

i don’t know what i really want to post on here, a mix of my random thoughts, my writing, and definitely posts about my lee, but generally anything I feel like posting will go here.

Hello! Have you been to the newcomers comm yet? There are good resources on getting used to Dreamwidth as a newbie there (this set of posts might especially be helpful!).

Regardless, is there a specific MCYT sphere you're into? I'm anchored in Skyblock Kingdoms and Hermitcraft, myself. And I'll admit I don't know much about Naruto but I do know that Rock Lee is pretty awesome so there's that! It's nice to see other yumeshippers around in the wild, tho. It's been a hot minute since I actively did it myself; I've been thinking back into it this year... 🤔

i’m a big hermitcraft fan too! i’m also into the life series, and i tend to rewatch a bunch of older series too (crazy craft you will always have a special place in my heart <3) i’ve been super active in the yumeshipping/selfshipping community on tumblr for a while now and although im not sure how active it is here nothing will stop me from posting about it even if its just for me! its always cool to see more people who self ship though! if you get back into it i hope its supper fun and you get to give your faves lots of love! are there any characters you like a lot that you would consider shipping with? or maybe some old faves you’d wanna bring back?

I've seen some selfshipping here. It's not particularly common and I don't know of a community for it. However, there is shipmanifestos so someone could post a shelfshipping guide there, which would help concentrate activity. Another option would be to make a new community for that purpose.

that's not a bad idea! i'll check out both that community and maybe see about making one! i've found some people also into self shipping, but like you said it doesn't seem super common, so im not sure if there'd be much interest for a community but it's defiantly a thought! thanks!

I suspect that more folks quietly enjoy selfshipping than talk about it openly. Some people are mean about it.

Try the Add Me communities to find other folks into selfshipping or whatever else you like. They typically have a little form where you say what you're into and what you're looking for.

I've been kind of lowkey selfshipping with Kamek and Luigi from the Super Mario series for a while, actually. I'm hoping to write some fic about it at some point; I did some before and I kinda miss it, haha. Especially since I recently revamped my self-insert character a little!

those are suck fun characters. also i love writing self ship fics. they're so fun and self indulgent but that's exactly what you need sometimes. we are constant tweaking and revamping our self insert. i hope you have fun if you do chose to actively get back into self shipping!

newcomers has lots of resources about how to use Dreamwidth and where to find things you'll enjoy here. If you're coming from Tumblr, soc_puppet has posted tutorials for that angle. Find your Tumblr friends here.

Many bloggers use recurring posts to pin down their key interests and maintain activity, which is also a good source of inspiration if you aren't sure what you want to post yet.

Options are good. Duplication is also good. As platforms fail -- and they all do eventually -- the more places you've copied your work, the more likely it will survive. Dreamwidth is good for posting art, fiction, and various other things.

welcome to the site! it's not the exact same experience that tumblr gives you, but in a lot of ways that's a good thing! i also was a bit too young for livejournal, so it's fun to experience it now, and dreamwidth as a whole is great for random thoughts, writing, and gratuitous posting about your f/o / waifu / husbando / etc.

Honestly, same! I was trying to look for Death Note so I could watch it with my parents and accidentally moused over Pantheon too long and the preview autoplayed... My parents and I were instantly hooked, and the plot really just KEPT GOING... I was super super invested and I couldn't stop thinking about the show even after I finished it... I have kind of moved on now but I'm sure if I rewatch it I will end up insane again.

My favorite characters are Renee (evil wire mother, I knew I was in love with her the second she broke her own hand with a hammer), Caspian (I lowkey have a really embarrassing thing for bad boys), MIST (though she only endeared herself to me after becoming kind of problematic and messy). And Maddie, but that goes without saying.
